Once the 3D model was finalised and converted into the appropriate file it was sent off to be milled out of high density foam. We deliberately opted for 2 different manufacturing techniques for the masters because we wanted to see which one was less troublesome. We now know that the answer is milling as we have had no end of trouble with the hand sculpted Flame garden sculpture, eventually having to redo both the master and the mould. Whilst the milling process looses those hand made imperfections it gets a MUCH higher quality finish and is far more accurate to the original 3D model.

Here you can see us checking up on the work as it is being done and taking delivery of the mould and master ready for us to start playing with.
