LEGO, over the past few years, has undergone a huge transformation and where I started no longer exists. During the time I was there the go ahead was given for a new design building and a complete reshuffle and redesign of the whole design area. We were moved from our cosy/hyggeligt studio to a completely barren white room with just desks, office lighting and a grey floor. This for me was not what a toy design studio should be and I thought it such a shame that we were moved to such an uninspiring room. From what we were told at the time there was little that would change to this area apart from a few display boxes to hold models on so I decided to put forward my own proposals for how the studio should look if we were going to design exciting toys.

The process involved liaising with all members of my team and listening to what they needed from the studio space, giving them the opportunity to help put forward ideas by creating mood boards and asking them to add suggestions, sourcing and budgeting for the project and presenting the ideas to management and external consultants.
