Concrete is a very fashionable material and with the need for custom kitchens it is great way to get that personal touch in. There are sheet materials out there that offer a similar effect to a concrete worktop but they don’t have the same feel and custom made, rustic heart.

Being Based in St Albans Hertfordshire is a great place to serve local towns like Radlett, Hadley wood, Watford, Hemel Hempstead and surrounding counties like Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex, Essex and even London for all your custom concrete worktop needs. Wherever your location a site visit and chat is not a problem.

There are several different ways in which your custom concrete worktop can be made but I prefer to make it off site and assemble it in situ. The reason for this is that it is an incredibly messy business making it and to do it in your home or workplace means, dust, water, mess and curing smells.

Briefing

The first stage is for me to understand your needs and desires for your kitchen work top. I am very keen to make sure that the finished product is just right for you. I will go through the pro’s and cons of having a concrete kitchen worktop and explain the flexibility that it will provide us with the design process.

Measuring and Design

Measuring the spaces is crucial as the concrete counter top will be made off site so templates will be constructed after the measuring and then the installed to check for accuracy. I will have a meetings with you as the client and show you my designs which will reflect your specifications and desires.

Fabrication

The design is done and the templates precise and it is off to the workshop where a wooden mould fitted with any engravings or special design features you need will be crafted. Once the moulds are made the process of hand laying up the form can begin. It will be left to cure for a few days and, when released, finished, sanded, filled, and polished according to your wishes, will be ready for installation.

Installation

At a time suitable for you the worktop will be installed. The length of time this will take can vary depending on the size of the project and if part of a larger plan may have to be fitted in with other schedules. There may be some adjustments to make on site but hopefully it fits perfectly and there will be minimal need for mess.

If a concrete worktop takes your fancy or you simply want a few questions answered then please get in touch and I will be happy to arrange an appointment with you to discuss you design ideas and requirements.

Below are some images to give you an idea of what can be achieved with a concrete worktop. They have been collated from outside sources and are not the product of Adam Christopher design work but are designs that I think really capture how beautiful concrete can be.
